Name of Assignment: Frankenstein empire
Subject: Humanities
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.Terry
The frankenstein empire assignment was basically a project where you had to understand one of 4 ancient empires by reading an article, then you needed to get in a group and discuss the differences between all 4 empires, and then the final task was to create the ultimate empire with your group and find all the strengths and fit them to each aspect of an empire. Then we presented it to people from different groups, and that is what we were graded on. The goal of this project was to help us learn more about the ancient empires of the world in a fun interactive way.
I believe this project addresses global awareness because of how we got to learn individually about different cultures and ways that civilizations ran and interacted. Specifically for me, I learned about the Russian culture which I’m very interested in and I learned a lot from, so I definitely think this assignment increased my global awareness skills.
The thing I’m most proud of from this assignment is the way that I presented my slideshow to the other groups. I feel like I did a good job explaining exactly why we chose each part of certain empires to complete our empire.
The most difficult thing about completing this task was getting all my group members to stay on task, and to complete the slideshow we had prepared. We had a lot of trouble staying on task and focusing. I know I personally had to read the article five times before I fully comprehended it, but I eventually got the hang of it and was able to become an expert on the Russian empire.
If I could improve my work on this assignment, I would work on the slideshow more and polish it up because I think we didn’t spend enough time working on it. We knew what we were talking about, but making the slideshow look nice, and even completing it was a really tough task for my group as a whole, so I think I would go back in time and just make it have a cooler theme or more information.
