The goals for this project was to create something unique to my interests, and that is easily doable with the accessible materials. I chose a bike rack because it would be easily doable because I had most of the materials at home. One of my goals for this assignment was to learn how to use the different types of saws that would be included in the project.
I chose this work sample because it was pretty fun to make, and it also is useful because now I have somewhere to put my bike in the garage. I took a lot of pictures, but they weren't of the finished project, but these two examples are the finished product the day after the glue finished drying and after we used our nail gun in the bottom and back.
This work represents my interpersonal skills, because when operating on the wood, I communicated well with my dad and we worked well as a team to create the product. This made it easy to complete because my dad knew what he was doing.
This project made me a lot more familiar with saws, and it makes me more confident in my ability to work with saws and wood. This project did not have as many difficulties as I had originally assumed, but that was because my dad is a professional woodworker so it challenged me to an extent when I had difficulties learning how to use the power tools.
Some ways I grew and advanced are the way I understood power tools. When using the jigsaw I had a hard time balancing it which I then grew to work better, and grow in a positive direction. Another way I grew was measuring correctly and I learned how to make the right measurements for the project and that really advocated for the growth in my woodworking journey.
